Safe Check-In ("the Service", "we", "us") is a personal-safety check-in tool. You tell us when to expect a check-in. If you do not check in by your deadline (plus any grace period), the Service can notify the trusted contacts you have chosen, through push, SMS, voice call, or email, following the escalation steps you set up.
You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter a binding agreement. You are responsible for your account, your password, and keeping your contact and check-in settings accurate. Use a strong password and consider enabling two-factor authentication.
You may only add a person as a trusted contact if you have their permission to contact them on the details you provide, and to alert them if you miss a check-in. We ask each contact to confirm they accept before we send them alerts. Do not use the Service to message anyone who has not agreed to receive these messages. You are responsible for the accuracy of the details you enter.
Do not use the Service to harass, deceive, or send unsolicited messages; to impersonate anyone; for any unlawful purpose; or in a way that abuses the messaging channels (for example, deliberately triggering large volumes of alerts). We may suspend an account that puts others, the Service, or our providers at risk.
The Service sends alerts on a best-effort basis. Delivery and timing depend on your trusted contacts' devices and carriers, on third-party providers (push, SMS, voice, and email), on internet connectivity, and on the Service running normally. We do not guarantee that any alert will be delivered, delivered on time, or seen. Quiet hours, network outages, full inboxes, blocked numbers, and provider issues can all delay or prevent an alert.
The Free plan is available at no cost. Paid plans (Personal, and Lone Worker for teams) are billed monthly in Australian dollars and unlock more trusted contacts and channels. A paid plan may start with a low-cost trial; the trial fee is charged at sign-up and the plan converts to the standard monthly price when the trial ends unless you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period and is not pro-rated. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card details. If a downgrade or cancellation lowers your plan, your data is kept, but limits on the lower plan apply to adding new items.
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect, how we use it, and the third parties involved.
The Service relies on third parties to function, including messaging and payment providers and hosting and network infrastructure. We are not responsible for the acts or outages of these providers, though we choose them with care.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties not expressly stated. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any harm arising because an alert was not delivered, was delayed, or was not acted on. Safe Check-In is a backup tool and is not a substitute for emergency services, medical care, or your own safety planning. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached or to protect users or providers. You can request deletion of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will give reasonable notice through the Service. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of that state and the Commonwealth have jurisdiction.
